See Wonderful Wildlife with Billy Shiels Boat Trips

See the beautiful North East coastline on Billy Shiels Boat Trips which run from Seahouses to The Farne Islands.  This wonderful family run business has been hosting sea trips from Seahouses since 1918.    The fleet of 7 boats are all named “Glad Tidings”, a family tradition, and they also host  a high speed Rib called Ocean Explorer.

As well as seeing the wonderful rugged coastline while out on the North Sea, the Farne Islands host wonderful wildlife, and  in the summer months in the nesting season, you can see many species of birds, including Puffins, Razorbills, Guillemots, Terns, Cormorants and Eiderducks.   A host of other wildlife such as otters, seals and fish can be observed.  One trip even boasts to have seen a killer whale, although this is obviously a rare sight!  With hundreds of visitors every year, the company has even been host to some of the royal family which tops off their widespread good reputation.

There are 10 trips outlined in their brochure, a sample are outlined below:

Inner Farne (Bird Sanctuary) – A 2.5 hour trip around the Farne Islands

Staple Island – a 2.5 hour trip to a rocky island noted for it’s seabird colonies

All Day Bird Watch – a 6 hour trip taking in the extensive seabird life around Staple Island and Inner Farne and beyond

Holy Island Cruise – a 4 hour trip to the wonderful Holy Island, or Lindisfarne Island, with all of it’s many treasures

Grey Seal Cruise – a 1.5 hour trip observing the colony of grey seals situated around the islands

Coastal Cruise – 3 hour journey around the amazing coastline with spectacular views of the Farne Islands, Craster, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Holy Island
