The Bowes Museum

The Bowes Museum is a fantastic French château originally owned by John and Josephine Bowes built in the 19th Century.  The house originally was created to showcasee collections of fine art which were of international interest.

The Bowes Museum boasts a wonderful permanent collection of works by many renowed artists.   It also has one of the finest collections of ceramics.   The museum plays its world famous Silver Swan, a musical automation, evefry day.

As well as permanent collections of art, the Bowes Museum also shows traditional and contemporary exhibitions from many world famous artists.

A registered charitable trust, the Bowes Museum is a must place to visit in the North East of England.  The museum helps to cultivate a wonderful and deep understanding of art for everyone.
