Find Great Things To Do At Easter In North East England
Easter is fast approaching and we wanted to help you find some fun things to do at Easter as well as some great places to visit here in North East England. We have included dates to cover all the school holidays in the region as well as the actual Easter weekend. We set out to try to bring a variety of things to do at Easter from across the region and for all ages. We’ve selected a few to report, and there are many more great things to do at Easter, in every part of the North East. 1. Find an Easter Egg Hunt
There are many Easter egg hunts across the region. Easter egg hunts are brilliant for the kids and helps the adults remember the Easter excitement from their own childhood! Most of the Easter egg hunts are set in backdrops of natural beauty, or interesting places to go.
Embleton and Newton Links
The Embleton and Newton Links Cadbury Easter Trail in the Northumberland Town of Embleton. The first day on 5th April begins at 11:30, and the 6th April, the trail begins at 11.30 on 5th April and 10.30 on 6th April. Entry fee is just £2
Durham University Botanic Gardens
Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens
Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens in Northumberland is hosting their Easter egg hunt on 5th April from 10:00 am to 16:00 pm. Children Admission is £4.50. Click here for more details.
Alnwick Gardens is hosting an Easter bunny Hunt. Activity packs are provided, and clever clues make learning about the gardens easy. When all the clues have been solved, participants will be rewarded with a Lintz Gold Bunny. The hunt is held between 28th March and 12th April. Raby Castle in Co. Durham is hosting an Easter Treasure Trail in the Walled Garden on Saturday 4th April, until Monday 6th April. The trail is ran from 11:00 am until 16:00 am. For more details about opening times and ticket prices click here
Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens
Entry is free for the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens Easter Chick Trail, which is being held between 2nd and 19th April. The museum is open Monday to Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Stewart Park in Middlesbrough is hosting an Easter Egg Trail on Sunday 31st March, between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Admission is just £1.50. For more details and contact, click here
Combine your Easter fun with a shopping trip and take the kids to the Metrognomes Easter egg hunt at the Metro Centre, Gateshead. The show times are varied and there is no show on Easter Sunday, so check before you visit. You can find out details here
The National Trust
The National Trust has teamed up with Cadbury to bring hundreds of Easter egg hunts. You can find a Cadbury Easter Eggsplorer event in over 300 locations across the UK. Find an Easter egg hunt near you by clicking here
2. Fun For All The Family
Woodhorn Museum, has all year round events, and this Easter is holding a range of special events across the holidays. In particular we think you might like to go and meet the Easter Bunny who will be at Woodhorn between 3rd and 6th April, from noon until 3:00 pm. The Birds of Prey Display on 6th April, from 11:00 am to 15:00 pm, with a flying demonstration between noon and 2:00 pm. Admission is free; Carparking is £3.50 for a day.
Splash Leisure Centre
Splash is a busy vibrant leisure centre and gym, with lots going on for all the family. Their offers include, swimming, dancing, karate, wrestling, ju jitsu, table tennis and mini soccer to name but a few. Based in Stockton upon Tees, open every day, with a range of membership options. Brocksbushes Fruit Farm and Shop
Brocksbushes is a wonderful fruit farm and farm shop, based just outside of Corbridge, Northumberland. This Easter Brocksbushes is hosting a number of Easter events for the kids. With an Easter Egg Safari, Animal Corner, and an Army Climbing Wall featuring on various dates across the Easter holidays. Some of the activities are pre-bookable and you will need to be quick, as there is already some unavailability. Find out more here
Truly a day out with a difference, Diggerland is the perfect Easter Day out, for boys and girls as well as mums and dads. There is a host of rides and activities which give great value for money. Not only can you explore the Diggerland park, you can also buy into one of their experiences. This attraction is unique and can provide a real surprise as a gift or simply a day out. Killhope Lead Mining Museum
Get the kids to join in with some Easter crafts at Killhope Lead Mining Museum. The Easter Crafts event costs only £2.00 per child and kicks off a range of Easter activities from 2nd to 19th April. The Museum is open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. To find out more click here
F1K Indoor Karting
Why not treat the kids to a unique experience of indoor karting this Easter? Indoor karting is hosted by F1K Indoor Karting. The track is based in Dunston, and offers a range of packages for both adults and children. To find out more about booking and prices, click here
Hartlepool Maritime Experience
Take the family on a historical trip around Hartlepool Maritime Experience. Featuring the oldest warship still in existence, it is not to be missed. The tour guide recommends allowing at least 3 hours for a visit. Opening times are 10:00 am to 17:00 in the spring/summer season starting 1st April. Admission starts from £8.25. Journey Through Teesdale 9 Hole Mini Golf Course
Take the whole family through “A Journey through Teesdale”, in a most unusual way. This Journey Through Teesdale 9 hole mini golf course commissioned by Durham County Council, was designed by Urban Crazy. Every hole is themed on a familiar local landmark or nearby place of interest. Based at Barnard Castle, entry starts at £2 with discounts for groups. The course opens at 10:30 through to 16:30. Stockton Chic Vintique Fair
A day with a difference on the 11th April, with the Chic Vintique Fair being held on Stockton High Street. With over 45 stands, a vintage tea room and music, it promises to be a great atmosphere. Entry is free and the fair is open 10:00 am to 15:30 pm. For more information click here
Wet and Wild
Kids and Adults will have lots of fun at Wet and Wild, with brilliant slides and water fun, with features for all ages. It seems like this great attraction has been entertaining the people of the North East of England for ever! It’s still never lost it’s wide appeal. This Easter themed event, Roman Calvary Easter Explorers will help you and your family connect to the history of the Roman Era. Based at the Hadrian Wall site in Corbridge Northumberland, this event is held over 4 days, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th April. Times are 11 am to 5 pm. Middlesbrough Town Hall
A visit to Middlesbrough Town Hall will guarantee to keep you laughing this Easter. With shows from Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr and Dara Obriein, you have no excuse not to include some comedy in your Easter break. For more information, show times and pricing, click here
Durham Gala Theatre
Don’t miss the Wizard of Oz, showing at Durham Gala Theatre on 1st and 2nd of April, or alternatively, take a look at Octonauts and the Deep Sea Volcano Adventure, great for the kids, showing on 11th and 12th April. For more information, pricing and seating, click here
Join Beamish Museum for their 4 day spectacular Great North Festival of Transport, The four-day spectacular includes Beamishes own fleet of wonderful steam engines, plus impressive visiting locomotives. Enjoy some of the regions cultural events, when the Vienna Festival Ballet comes to Middlesbrough Theatre on 8th April. Other showings in the Easter break include A Neil Diamond Tribute and A Night of Dirty Dancing. For more information on show times and pricing, click here
Ramside Hall Hotel
For One Direction fans, Ramside Hall Hotel is hosting a One Direction Tribute Show for all the family on Friday 10th April 2015. Guest need to arrive for 6:00 pm. A two course meal is included in the price Adults £14.95 children £9.95. Early booking is advised. Ramside host a number of disco’s and tribute acts. Situated just outside of Newcastle City Centre, the Biscuit Factory, is hosting a Spring Exhibition over the Easter Holidays. The Spring Exhibition is by a number of artists, including Basia Roszakm, wher she produces dreamlike portraits which capture snapshots in time. Other artists include Lizzie Row, and Moy Mackay. The Centre For Life
The Centre for Life is hosting the Wild Life Photographer of the Year Exhibition, featuring winning photographs from the 2014 competition. Entrance prices start from £5:00 and the first child comes free when accompanied by a paying adult. The entrance price includes access to all centre activities and exhibitions. Sunderland Empire Theatre
Sunderland Empire Theatre is showing is showing the winner of 100 international awards, Wicked. The show has been casting its magical spell over audiences across the world for a decade and continues to break records at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, where it is now the 10th longest-running show in the West End. A couple of great shows at the Theatre Royal in the Easter period are worth a look. Shrek on 28th and 29th March is a firm family favourite, while The Bodyguard is running from 1st April. For full show, pricing and timing information, click here
